The table below explains how well you will need to do to meet the minimum statutory requirements for each qualification level (Higher Certificate, Diploma or Degree)
ANU has also set its own additional minimum entry requirements.
Please note that the achievement of the minimum statutory entry requirements does not necessarily guarantee you admission to any program or field of study at ANU.
Qualification-Minimum Statutory Entry Requirement:
Higher Certificate
Pass NSC with: A minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution, together with any other university requirements.
Diploma
Pass NSC with: A minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution, coupled with an achievement rating of 3 (40–49%) or better in four recognised NSC 20-credit subjects (this excludes LO which is 10-credits), together with any other university requirements.
Bachelors Degree
Pass NSC with: A minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution, coupled with an achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or better in four recognised 20-credit NSC subjects (this excludes LO which is 10-credits), together with any other university requirements.
*(LOTL) Language of Teaching & Learning, which is English at ANU.
Designated subjects:
As per the Government Gazette Notice No.165 No. 41473 dated March 2018, the list of designated subjects has been revoked with immediate effect. Subsequent to this announcement, the revised admission requirements for degree entry as they pertain to All Nations University, are further explained below:
Applicants must meet the minimum statutory entry requirements for each type of qualification they wish to apply for as stated above.
ANU may add additional requirements for certain qualifications.
Applicants will also need to comply with the Applicant Score (AS), subject(s) and percentage % pass required for specific subjects which may be required for certain qualifications, before a final decision will be made of the outcome of his/her application.
Any recognised 20-credit NSC subject combinations (dependant on school capacity) can be used towards applying for degree studies (this excludes LO which is 10-credits), if each of these four subjects are also passed on a level 4 (50-59%) or higher.
Undergraduate Certificate Study
To confirm eligibility for admission to undergraduate certificate study, applicants must consult the Admissions Office or the faculty concerned.
Undergraduate Diploma Study
The minimum requirement for admission to undergraduate diploma study is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in 4 recognised NSC 20-credit subjects.
Bachelor's Degree Study
To be eligible for admission to degree study, applicants need to meet minimum requirements for eligibility:
Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
Applicants holding non-South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate. For more information please visit the website of the Matriculation Board.
Minimum language proficiency
All applicants must have attained a certain level of proficiency in English and are required to submit evidence of this, as outlined below, as part of their application to study.
South African Senior Certificate undergraduate applicants
South African Senior Certificate undergraduate applicants to ANU must have achieved a pass of 40% or more on the Higher Grade in English (First or Second Language) at Senior Certificate level.
South African NSC undergraduate applicants
South African NSC undergraduate applicants to ANU, must have achieved a rating of 2 (Elementary Achievement, 30-40%) or better at Home Language or First Additional Language level.
The Certificate in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies is an ideal starting point for students who desire to know God’s Word and need a basic Biblical foundation for Spirit-filled Ministry. Minimum requirements Matric/ grade12 or via RPL
A Diploma in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies provides the best ministry preparation and at the end of this program, students will be able to integrate Christian principles in critical thinking and decision making. The program prepares the student for further study into the various tracks of our Bachelor Degree. The entrance requirements for the Diploma in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies is a Certificate in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies or 120 Credits.
Students wanting to enter the 360-credit Bachelor Degree in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies program must have completed a Diploma in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies or an equivalent of 240 credits. The Bachelor Degree in Ministry/Theology/Religious Studies prepares students either for ordained ministry in a Christian church, Bible College or for a wider engagement in society.
Students wanting to enter the 480-credit Honors Degree program must have completed a Bachelor Degree or an equivalent of 360 credit hours. The Honors Degree program (B.Min.Hons.) is both a capstone to an undergraduate degree and preparation for postgraduate study. It is the first step on the path to advanced professional competence and is an intensive program of advanced study demonstrating special proficiency and the ability for further study within the Christian discipline.
